Wrench is one of the most common tools in our daily life! Then let's have a good understanding of it!

Adjustable spanner is a kind of tool used to tighten and loosen nuts and bolts of different specifications. Spanner is a common tool for maintenance workers. Because its opening can be adjusted within a certain range, it is very convenient to use. It can not only be used for standard metric bolts and British bolts, but also for some self-made non-standard bolts.

The inventor of the adjustable wrench was Johan Petter Johansson (1853-1943), who invented the spanner in 1892.

The adjustable wrench is composed of a head and a handle, and the head is composed of a movable plate lip, a rigid lip, a plate mouth, a turbine and a shaft pin. The rotating turbine can adjust the size of the orifice. Specifications are expressed in length × maximum opening width (unit: mm). There are four kinds of specifications commonly used by electricians: 150 mm × 19 mm (6 '), 200 mm × 24 mm (8'), 250 mm × 30 mm (10 ') and 300 mm × 36 mm (12').

(1) When pulling the big nut, the larger torque is usually used, and the hand should be held near the end of the handle.

(2) When pulling the small nut, the torque used is small, but if the nut is too small, it is easy to slip, so the hand should be held close to the plate head. In this way, the turbine can be adjusted at any time to tighten the movable plate lip to prevent slipping.

(3) The spanner should not be reversed to avoid damaging the plate lip, and the steel pipe extension handle should not be used to increase the torque.

In the process of use, we must use it correctly. Let's take a look at the matters needing attention in the process of use:

1. No matter what kind of wrench, the better use effect is to pull. If it is necessary to push, you can only push it with your palm, and the fingers should be extended to prevent the bolt or nut from suddenly loosening and damaging the fingers. To get the maximum torque. The direction of tension must be at right angles to the wrench handle.

2. When using the adjustable wrench, the specification should be selected according to the size of the nut. When using, hold the handle with your right hand. The closer the hand is, the less effort it will take to pull it. When pulling the big nut, a large torque is required and the hand should be held close to the end of the handle. When pulling the small nut. The required torque is not large, but the nut is too small and easy to slip. Therefore, the hand should be held close to the head. The worm gear can be adjusted at any time to tighten the flexible lip to prevent slipping.

3. When using the adjustable wrench, the movable jaw of the wrench should bear the thrust, fix the jaw and bear the tension, that is, when pulling the wrench. The movable jaw faces the inside: the force must be even to avoid damaging the wrench or the edges and corners of bolts and nuts. Cause slip and accident.

4. Avoid excessive force when using the wrench. It may cause skidding and bumping.

5. Spanners shall not be used as crowbars or hammers.

When the nut is pulled, it is rusty. Drop a few drops of kerosene or oil on the nut. After a while. Just twist it. When it can't be screwed, never use the steel pipe to cover the handle of the adjustable wrench to increase the torque, because it is easy to damage the flexible lip or nut, resulting in the nut can not be taken out.

7. When a spanner is needed for climbing operation, it should be delivered by rope instead of throwing it up and down.
